Exile, a villanelle

When the crown is happy, grievance is soothed

Champagne flows as kingdom rejoices,

but the inner circle knows the truth

But tides are turning, they cast their

blame

You cut me out and said i'm free

But this is false freedom you proclaim

Freedom must have choice and I had no luxury

I did what was right, But this alone

Won't shield me from your animosity

Are you punishing me for saving you? Or mad that I can see

Through the facade you show the world

The cracks in all your feigned civility

So you shut me out with the air and the trees

I shined a light on what you tried to hide

The truth won't leave with me

Is the pain because you're embarrassed?

You didn't want anyone else to see?

The cracks you filled in with gold

So no else would know beyond you or me?
